Jean Keil

Oklahoma City, OK

Originally from rural Western Oklahoma, Ms. Keil began working with clay in 1980 taking classes at the Firehouse Art Center in Norman, OK.  And later received a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2003 from the University of Oklahoma.

Keil’s current work is an exploration of surface using texture highlighted with color on forms made with handbuilding techniques. These forms engage the viewer with elements of implied function or with a mix of soft and hard lines or with figurative elements.   Keil has attended local workshops and national conferences.   Her work has been accepted in festivals and juried exhibitions.  She has received awards at regional and national juried competitions, and has work in numerous private collections.

“My work is an exploration of line, texture and color based on daily experiences.  The objective is to integrate elements of function into sculptural forms.”
